The light reaching us from the sun is quite bright compared to the light in the room. But this is not the only peculiarity of sunlight. We also have to think about the spectrum of sunlight and the spectrum of the light sources that we want to use to replace the Sun. Finally, also about which light is most suitable for the solar panel.

Four tips:

• We only see a small part of sunlight, the rest is ultraviolet or infrared light.
• We no longer use incandescent lamps for lighting today, because a large part of its light is infrared light.
• An LED lamp is better for lighting because it emits very little infrared light.
• A solar panel uses very red and infrared light most effectively.
